‘No to Reconstruction Unless Hamas Returns Soldiers’ Bodies’

Hamas must be forced by the international community to return the bodies of slain soldiers Oron Shaul and Hadar Goldin and be prevented from receiving reconstruction assistance until it does, Goldin's twin brother demanded Monday night.

"Hadar was defined as a righteous man, and I have come to bring my twin home," Tzur Goldin stated to thousands of evangelical Christians at a conference in Washington, D.C., according to Channel 10. "I call on world leaders to avoid any step to rebuild Gaza until my late brother's body will be returned."

"It is time that we, members of the free world, set the rules for Hamas and stop playing into their hands."

Goldin called the current situation, wherein Hamas is holding two civilian Israelis – both of whom apparently entered Gaza as a result of mental illness – as "an opportunity to change a 30-year policy of weakness in dealing with the issue of kidnappings, and of winning the psychological war of Hamas and Hezbollah against Israel."

"It's time to cause the enemy to stop believing in their systems," Goldin added. "This is our chance to change that, and it comes from a position of strength, justice and ethics, a change in which we set the rules and Hamas's concept that prisoners cause us to play into their hands."

Hamas recently attempted to fool Israel after a deal to free Israeli Ethiopian Avraham Mengistu, who is mentally ill and walked across the border in September before Israeli officials could stop him, was forged in autumn 2014.

Hamas had promised to send "the Ethiopian," as they said, to the border – but instead sent over an Eritrean migrant who had landed in Gaza. Israel refused to accept him and the negotiations terminated.

Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon (Likud) stated Monday that no terrorist prisoner swap deals would be made for Mengistu or the other Israeli held in custody, an Israeli Arab from a Bedouin village.
