Two Jews were targeted in BB gun attacks in the Kew Garden Hills neighborhood of Queens, City Councilman Rory Lancman (D-Fresh Meadows) said Monday, in a possible hate crime.
“I was deeply disturbed to learn that two Jewish victims were hit by BB guns in Kew Gardens Hills. The NYPD is appropriately investigating these incidents as potential anti-Semitic hate crimes.” Lancman said in a prepared statement. “I would like to thank the NYPD for responding to these incidents in a swift and appropriate manner."
"My office is in contact with the Police Department to ensure that the security concerns of our community are addressed, particularly during the upcoming holidays.”
Both victims were wearing visibly Orthodox Jewish garb, Lancman's office said.
Of the two victims, one was hit on 150th Street near 73rd Avenue, the Queens Chronicle reports; another, an Orthodox man, was hit near the corner of 150th Street and 75th Avenue, close to the Lander College for Men.
