Orange CEO insists: ‘I am a friend of Israel’

In a letter written to Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely released for publication Wednesday, the Chairman and CEO of French telecom giant Orange, Stephane Richard, made it clear that "Orange does not support any form of boycott" in Israel, adding that his recent comments regarding his company’s future in the Jewish State were based on "commercial implications entailed by our brand strategy."

Richard blamed the "current confusion and controversy" on "certain media" distorting his statements made to reporters in Cairo last week, in which he said that he would gladly cut ties with Israel “tomorrow” if it wasn’t so financially prohibitive.
