Among its slew of complaints about Israel to the International Criminal Court, the Palestinian Authority – recognized there as “the State of Palestine” – demanded that Israel be investigated for, among other things, “abuse of prisoners.”
The PA was referring to the long jail sentences that Israel has imposed on terrorists from PA-controlled areas of Judea and Samaria – sentences that the PA calls “cruel and unusual punishment.”
But just a few days later, according to a report by the PA's wire service, terrorists in Israeli prisons were awarded – college diplomas. According to the report, Islam Salah Jarar, a top Hamas terrorists in jail for a long list of terror acts, was awarded a master's degree in his cell in the Hadarim prison in central Israel. According to the report, Jarar was directed and mentored on the term report he needed to submit for the degree by infamous terrorist “Dr.” Marwan Barghouti, who is serving multiple life sentences in Israel for numerous murders of Israeli Jews.
Jarar received his degree from Al Quds University, located in Jerusalem. Barghouti is a full professor at that institution, although he conducts class “remotely,” according to the school.
Jarar was a top commander in the Hamas Al-Aqsa Brigades during the second intifada, and is currently serving nine life terms.
