Pe’er progresses in Wimbledon, Glushko and Weintraub already out

Shahar Pe’er advanced to the second round of the Wimbledon qualifiers on Tuesday, while Julia Glushko and Amir Weintraub both stumbled at the first hurdle.

Pe’er, ranked No. 120 in the world, trailed 4-2 in the third and decisive set against Yuliya Beygelzimer (171), but fought back to claim the final four games of the match to register a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 win over the Ukrainian.

Pe’er, who has missed the main draw at the All England Club only once since 2005, next faces Switzerland’s Romina Oprandi (162) in the second of the three qualifying rounds.
