Zionist Union MK Amir Peretz told the leader of his Hatnua Party, MK Tzipi Livni, that he intends to run with Labor in the next election, a source close to Peretz said Saturday night.
The Zionist Union is a joint list of Labor and Hatnua. Peretz, a former Labor leader, left the party in 2012 for Hatnua because he opposed the leadership of then-Labor leader Shelly Yacimovich.
But he told Livni and Labor leader Isaac Herzog that he now believes his future is in Labor and that the two parties should merge. Neither of them were willing to make sure a commitment in their conversations with Peretz.
