Police officer Gila Gaziel was on Sunday promoted to the rank of assistant chief, the second highest rank in the Israel police, and will head the Manpower Branch of the organization.
Gaziel is now the highest-ranked woman in the police force. Her appointment follows a vow by Danino to bring more female officers into the top ranks of the police, amid a series of sex scandals that have caused great harm to the public image of the organization.
The 54-year-old mother of three is a resident of Maccabim-Reut. She is a 27-year veteran of the Israel Police and has an MA in education. She has spent most of her career working in the Manpower branch.
