Police Summon Arab MK over Temple Mount Fracas

Jerusalem district police summoned for investigation Arab Joint List MK Jamal Zahalka on Wednesday, after he verbally assaulted police and Jews the day before at the Temple Mount, the holiest site in Judaism.

Zahalka was caught on film that was sent to Arutz Sheva, in which he can be seen harassing Israeli police accompanying Jewish visitors to the site where the First and Second Temples stood.

The radical MK is seen shouting at the police and Jews, calling them "criminals," "fascists," "racists," and shouting at them to leave.

"This isn't yours, get out of here, go home. Go to h***," Zahalka screamed as he hurled abuse on the Jewish visitors to the site.

The verbal attack has already led Agriculture Minister Uri Ariel (Jewish Home) and MK Oren Hazan (Likud) to call to ban Zahalka from the Mount.

Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein likewise said, "if MKs want to ascend to the Temple Mount because it is a holy place – for Jews, Muslims and Christians – there is no problem with this. But someone who comes to incite should look for another place, it's too volatile there."

Zahalka's rant comes amid an upswing in Arab violence focused around the Temple Mount during the Jewish holidays of Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and Sukkot which began this Sunday evening.

It also echoes Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas's calls to use violence to stop "filthy" Jews from visiting the Mount.
