Prosor Urges UN Chief to Condemn Car Terror Attack

Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, Ron Prosor, on Thursday urged UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to condemn the car terror attack in Samaria, in which three soldiers were injured.

“Once again, even after a Palestinian terrorist intentionally plowed his car into three IDF soldiers today, the UN hasn’t condemned the attack, nor the other recent attacks against Israelis,” Prosor said, noting it was the third time this week that he had called on Ban to condemn the terror attacks in Israel, and had “told him that his silence stands in stark contrast to the immediate and extensive condemnations issued in response to other horrific terror attacks.”

“Terror is terror, no matter where it takes place, or who is harmed. The people of Israel deserve the same level of concern and empathy as any other people in the world,” said the Israeli envoy.

Prosor earlier this week had called on the UN to condemn a  firebomb attack in Jerusalem in which an Israeli woman was injured.

“The United Nations’ silence is deafening. While Israel does not hesitate to clearly and unequivocally condemn acts of terrorism, and is committed to bringing the perpetrators of such acts to justice, no matter who they are, it comes as no surprise that there has still been no condemnation of this attack by any Palestinian leader and the international community,” he said.

Prosor also called on the Security Council to condemn those responsible for the rocket attack against Israel last weekend.

Due to the fact that there is only one side that is responsible for the launch of these rockets, Ambassador Prosor challenged the Council not to use the usual “UN lingo” by calling on both sides to show restraint, saying, “This is a clear case of Hamas terrorists launching rockets against civilians.”
