Rabbi Pinto headed to prison to begin 1 year sentence

Convicted felon Rabbi Yoshiyahu Pinto will begin his year-long prison sentence on Tuesday after being found guilty of obstruction of justice and bribery charges, Jerusalem Post’s sister publication Ma’ariv online reported.

The conviction also came with a NIS 1 million fine as part of a plea bargain with the state.

The disgraced rabbi was initially remanded to Maasiyahu Prison located in Ramlae, but was allowed to transfer to nearby Nitzan prison due to an acute medical condition.
