A revelation in the ongoing corruption case against Interior Minister Aryeh Deri (Shas) – the investigation has now been expanded to include the minister’s brother, Shlomo Deri.
According to a report released Wednesday night, Shlomo Deri is suspected of two high-level financial crimes.
Shlomo Deri was interrogated under warning on Tuesday in connection with the case. His daughter was also questioned Tuesday night as part of the investigation.
Police conducted a search of Shlomo Deri’s home and office. Aryeh Deri also maintains a private office in the same building as his brother’s.
Two weeks ago Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit ordered the inquiry into Aryeh Deri’s finances be upgraded to a criminal investigation.
Deri maintains that he is innocent of any wrongdoing, and that the suspicions of corruption are completely baseless.
