Report: French lawmakers offer Assad cooperation in fight against jihadists

London-based newspaper Al Quds Al Arabi claimed on Thursday that a French diplomatic mission sent to Syria to meet with President Bashar Assad have suggested security and intelligence cooperation as part of the fight against jihadist groups. According to the report, the Syrian president conditioned cooperation on the resumption of diplomatic ties, including the reopening of the French embassy in Damascus, closed since 2012.
