Rocket Sirens to be Sounded in Jerusalem for Drill

Residents of Jerusalem will hear a rocket siren shortly after 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning, in a drill intended to heighten the preparedness in the 3,000-year-old capital of the Jewish people.

A siren will be sounded at 10:05 a.m. in Jerusalem, as well as in the surrounding suburbs of Givat Ze'ev and Ma'ale Adumim.

The siren comes as part of the last day of a national drill held by the IDF Homefront Command, whose task is to defend the Israeli civilian population in times of attack.

In the case of an actual rocket attack, the siren will be immediately followed by a second siren. Otherwise only a single sounding will occur according to the drill.

In last summer's Hamas terror war, the Gaza-based group proved that Jerusalem is not out of its range, firing rockets at the capital on several occasions.

At the very start of Operation Protective Edge, Arabs on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem wildly celebrated after rocket sirens were sounded in the capital, welcoming the fact that Jerusalem was being attacked – even though that meant they were in range of the rockets as well.
