Sardonic Video Warns Congress: Don’t Finance Murder of Americans

As Congress's vote on the Iran nuclear deal nears, a sardonic video is seeking to raise awareness of one of the negative consequences of the agreement which even is supporters acknowledge: a massive boon in funding for terrorist organizations throughout the world.

The Iranian regime has long been the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism, and officials in Tehran regularly boast of their support for what they term "resistance" groups throughout the Middle East – from Hamas and Islamic Jihad, to Hezbollah in Lebanon, to pro-Assad militias in Syria and Shia Islamist groups in Iraq and Yemen.

Tehran is also believed to be behind efforts to establish a wider network of Shia jihadi terror groups in neighboring Sunni Arab gulf states.

But beyond its regional foes, Iran has also supported numerous terrorist groups which have murdered Americans, including Shia Islamist militias in Iraq and even their former Taliban nemeses after the US invasion of Afghanistan following the 9/11 attacks. US intelligence services have also revealed Iran's unlikely role in aiding Al Qaeda carry out attacks against America and US interests, despite them being on different sides of the Shia-Sunni sectarian divide.

The tongue-in-cheek clip, produced by the Shurat HaDin/Israel Law Center rights group, portrays an Iranian-supported terrorist group presenting a “Killstarter” campaign – a play on the popular Kickstarter crowdfunding website.

The sardonic video shows a terrorist group which has ceased to receive funding from Iran and has started a campaign to raise money to continue their activity. However, the terrorists argue that instead of funding them directly, would-be donors could simply support the Iran deal, which will grant Iran $100 billion in frozen assets as global economic sanctions are lifted.

Its simple, hard-hitting message is opponents of the nuclear deal have been voicing repeatedly: that apart from failing in its objective to prevent Iran obtaining nuclear weapons, the deal will also give an enormous boost to terrorist groups.

Shurat HaDin/ Israel Law Center, recently filed an injunction against the State and Treasury Departments on behalf of victims who suffered and lost loved ones in attacks committed by Iranian-backed terror groups.
