Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked addressed the Jerusalem Post Diplomatic Conference in Jerusalem on Wednesday, speaking out harshly against the European Union’s decision last week to publish guidelines implementing special labels for Israeli products produced beyond the Green Line in the West Bank, parts of Jerusalem and the Golan Heights.
Shaked said that Israel would overcome the settlement labeling policy, but added that "the policy’s symbolic significance is troubling. The European Union does not designate other countries the same way. Israel is singled out. This decision shames the European Union."
She called on the European Union to help stabilize the Middle East "by seeking a positive, constructive role, rather than get distracted by unhelpful symbolic measures."
