Soldiers dance to Israel’s Eurovision entry, are punished with 21 days on base

A group of soldiers serving near the Palestinian city of Jenin were reprimanded on Wednesday – and now must remain on their base for 21 days – for taping a video in honor of Eurovision newcomer Nadav Guedj, during a military operation in the West Bank.

The Paratroopers Brigade soldiers, who end their three-year mandatory service in August 2015, filmed themselves dancing and singing to the catchy pop tune "Golden Boy" while on patrol at the security barrier. The 25-second video, which garnered thousands of views and comments online, was also seen by the crew’s commanders, who were less enthused about the "Golden Boy" rendition.
