Survey: Half of Israeli parents have tested their children for learning disabilities

Roughly half of parents have tested their children for learning disabilities or attention deficit disorder, according to a survey released by NITZAN – the Israeli Association for Children and Adults with Learning Disabilities in collaboration with hearing disabilities organizations.

The organization is set to hold its annual donation day Wednesday. Thousands of children are set to knock on doors throughout the country, asking for contributions that will be used to award scholarships and private lessons for needy children with learning disabilities throughout the country.

According to the survey, some 60% of parents said they tested their children at their own initiative and not at the insistence of school educators or other professionals, with two thirds of the children tested in first through sixth grades.
