Syria: Assad forces reach outskirts of Palmyra

Syrian Arab Army has reportedly reached the outskirts of the ancient city of Palmyra.

Palmyra, and the city of Tadmur in Homs Governate were captured by ISIS in May. 

The Assad regime has been fighting fierce battles against ISIS for control of the city and its oil wells. The city is also a gateway to the besieged town of Deir Ezzor.
