Terrorist Attacks Tourist outside Rome’s Colosseum

Islamic State (ISIS)-style terrorism arrived in the heart of the West Tuesday, after a terrorist shouting "Allah is great" held a tourist at knifepoint outside Rome's Colosseum.

The attacker held 26 year-old Chiara Frisco hostage for several minutes, shouting Islamist remarks until police arrived, Italian press reported. Frisco, from a town on the Adriatic sea, had been visiting Rome in honor of her sister's graduation.

"It seemed like a scene from ISIS," a witness told the Daily Mail. "He made the girl get down on her knees like you see in the terrorists' videos, while he held a knife to her throat."

"The only thing missing was the orange jumpsuit."

When the police arrived, the terrorist fled into the Forum, the center of Rome also known as piazza Venezia.

He was eventually disarmed and arrested; one Italian Police officer noted that he was too wary of harming the packed plaza to shoot the man on-site.

"Two of us approached from the side and one from behind," he described. "And when he lowered the knife we intervened."

The suspect was identified as a 33 year-old Brazilian man. He is being held on charges of attempted murder and resisting arrest.

ISIS has specifically targeted Rome in literature and social media, viewing the city as the center of Western culture. Several other terror groups have targeted the Vatican as well.

In March, a series of photos uploaded to Twitter showed ISIS terrorists allegedly 'conquering' Rome, as the poster held Islamic captions up against on-site photos of major Italian landmarks.

One month later, Italian police busted an Al Qaeda cell planning a massive attack in Rome and at the Vatican.
