Terrorist’s body returned for burial in Jerusalem

The second of ten bodies of killed terrorists from eastern Jerusalem was returned Sunday night.

Musab al-Ghazali, who was eliminated in December after trying to stab a policeman at Jerusalem's IDF Square, was buried in the cemetery adjacent to the Lion's Gate under strict terms set by the police.

The funeral attended by about thirty family member who were not permitted to bring their cellular phones to the event. This restriction was set so as to prevent media coverage and further incitement to terror.

The policy regarding the return of the bodies of terrorists to their families has seen a divide. While Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon (Likud) said that returning the bodies of the terrorists prevents further escalation and should be returned under certain restrictions, Internal Security Minister Gilad Erdan (Likud) believes that terrorist who hold Israeli citizenship should not be returned.

Moreover, members of the Lach Yerushalayim organization filed an official request to police to prevent the terrorist’s family from setting up a “mourning tent” which they claim generates an atmosphere of incitement and discontent.
