Samaria regional council head Yossi Dagan on Wednesday spoke with IDF Efraim District Brigade Commander Col. Roi Sheetrit, praising him for the actions of soldiers in the region.
Just on Wednesday morning an Arab terrorist tried to stab soldiers at a check post near the Arab village of Al-Zawiya, around 15 kilometers west of Ariel in western Samaria. The soldiers were able to shoot the terrorist dead before he could inflict any wounds.
"We are proud of IDF soldiers," said Dagan, even while noting, "we have to increase the deterrence."
"It is clear to us that on a systemic level there is no clear policy to eliminate the terror and the breaches remain the same breaches."
Pointing out the various forms of attacks that have taken place, he said, "if today illegal Arab entrants went in (over the 1949 Armistice line – ed.) then the security apparatus speaks about illegal Arab entrants for a day and the subject is forgotten."
"If there's an infiltration into a town, they speak for a day about defending the towns and again the topic is forgotten."
Dagan condemned the government, saying, "there is no clear policy and in this way, I'm sorry to say that we won't see the terror attacks stop any time soon."
"Residents of Samaria and the entire state of Israel are strong, but we expect true treatment of these breaches," he concluded.
