Turkish FM: Israel and Turkey will not resume ties before next election

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said Monday that he does not believe Israel and Turkey will renew ties before the election in Israel on March 15. “The government is under stress and thinking of other things,” said Cavusoglu, according to a report by the London based Arabic newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat. “I think they will not take that step.” The Turkish FM added that Turkey still demands that Israel compensate the families of those killed in the Marmara and remove the Gaza blockade as a condition for reconciliation. Cavusoglu boycotted the recent Munich Security Conference because of Israel’s participation.
