A man and a woman aged in their 70s were lightly to moderately wounded by a massive fire, which sprang up on Monday afternoon in a building located in the "Warsaw homes" region of the haredi neighborhood Meah She'arim, which is situated in central Jerusalem.
A portion of the roof of the building collapsed due to the intensity of the fire.
Magen David Adom (MDA) medics evacuated the two wounded to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in the capital; they suffered from having inhaled smoke and burns on their upper bodies. Currently it is unclear if there are additional wounded.
A full 12 firefighting teams aided by a crane and vehicles to supply water were working to put out the massive blaze.
Officer Eyal Cohen, acting Jerusalem Fire and Rescue Commander, was on scene and directing the forces. Firefighters were called up from home to help put out the fire, and additional crews from Beit Shemesh as well as Judea and Samaria were on their way to the scene.
