Two IDF soldiers sustained serious injuries on Sunday in a fire that broke out in the dormitories of the Ramon Airbase in Mitzpe Ramon. The two were airlifted to the Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer. The two are being treated for burns and are in mortal danger.
The fire broke out in the afternoon, apparently when some turpentine caught fire. It was put out by the base firefighting team.
Investigators are currently trying to find out what happened. It isn’t clear what turpentine was doing in the dormitories and why it caught fire.
Last year a fire broke out in the IDF headquarters in Tel-Aviv. No-one was injured.
