UNICEF: Israel’s child poverty rate surpasses Mexico and Chile

Israel has the highest levels of inequality among children in developed countries, according to a new United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) report released Thursday.

The report, Fairness for Children: A league table of inequality in child well-being in rich countries, presents an overview of inequalities in child well-being among 41 European Union and Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries. Examining inequality in four key domains of child well-being – income, education, health, and life satisfaction – the report focuses on how far children at the bottom 10 percent are allowed to fall behind the average child in each nation.
