WATCH: High-end Tel Aviv restaurant destroyed by fire

Mul Yam, one of Tel Aviv’s most higly esteemed restaurants, burned to the ground late Wednesday after one of the restaurant’s freezers short-circuited.

Located in the Tel Aviv port, the high-end seafood restaurant opened in 1995 as an oyster bar with two items on the menu, and has since been grown to be named among the world’s 150 best restaurants by the prestigious “Le Grandes Tables du Monde” guide. 

Mul Yam attracted critical acclaim for its use of fresh ingredients, airlifting its seafood straight from ports around the world.

The restaurant achieved notoriety in America a few years ago, when it was name-dropped in the U.S. version of “The Office” for having the world’s best lobster dish.
