A man in his 40s was critically injured in an explosion in Tel Aviv, in what appears to be a gangland-related bombing.
Witnesses described seeing a jeep bursting into flames after a loud explosion on Moshe Sneh street in northern Tel Aviv.
Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics provided first aid treatment to the single casualty, who had incurred "very serious" injuries to his limbs, before evacuating him to Ichilov Hospital.
Shortly after his arrival, however, the victim succumbed to his wounds.
Firefighters were calling to put out the blaze as well as to aid in extracting the victim from the car.
Police say at this point they are treating the incident as criminal, not terrorism-related.
According to reports the victim, who has not yet been publicly identified, had agreed to testify against a leading gangster in a high-profile court case.
