Violence erupted at a soccer match in Bulgaria between Ashdod F.C. and CSKA Sofia Monday when fans of the home team burst into the game forcing the visiting Israeli team to run off the field.
The match was canceled when the Sofia supporters threatened the Israeli players who were forced to leave the field out of concern for their safety.
The incident occurred in the first minute of stoppage time with Ashdod leading 1–0, SI reported. After a hard tackle by an Ashdod player resulted in a red card, bottles rained down from the stands and dozens of CSKA fans ran onto the field, according to SI, that said CSKA fans, and specifically the group known as “Sector G,” are well known for their violence.
