A 19-year-old woman who was seriously wounded in a brawl in the southern Israeli of Rahat town died of her wounds Saturday.
Nareeman Abu Jamaa is the second person to die as result of the fight that unfolded between two families in the Bedouin town exactly one week ago. Salah a-Din Abu Abed, 16, was shot dead. Nine others sustained moderate and light wounds. A fire broke out at the scene.
Abu Jamaa’s death raises the number of Arabs killed in violent incidents over the past month to nine. Local leaders have expressed concern over the rise in violence during the holy month of Ramadan.
So far 25 suspects have been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the Rahat brawl. Twelve have been charged.
The police have also arrested a 30-year-old resident of the neighborhood where the fight took place for preparing firebombs.
