A youth was stabbed to death in a brawl late on Thursday night just outside a pub on the central King George Street of Jerusalem.
A brother of the victim was also seriously wounded in the incident, and was hospitalized at Shaare Tzedek Hospital in the capital.
An initial investigation has revealed that just several minutes before the stabbing, tear gas was sprayed between the sides as an argument spun out of control at the pub.
Medical teams evacuated the two wounded youths to the hospital, where doctors were forced to pronounce the death of one of them.
Police forces that arrived on the scene launched a wide search to try and locate the murderer – it remains unclear whether the stabber was an Arab or a Jew.
At present the police estimate that the incident is criminal in nature rather than having any terror aspects. Police are continuing to question witnesses.
