A far-left Dutch group has asked radical Arab MK Hanin Zoabi (Joint List) to address racism in Israeli society at an upcoming Holocaust memorial event in Amsterdam.
Platform Stop Racism and Exclusion is holding the November 8 event in commemoration of Kristallnacht (the "Night of Broken Glass"), the massive 1938 pogrom against Austrian and German Jews.
The Dutch group announced Zoabi's attendance last week, writing on Facebook that in previous years it “paid attention to racism in the world (Germany, Austria, Greece) but not in Israel. Given recent events, discussing racism in Israel is unavoidable.”
Zoabi will speak on “Israeli discrimination against Palestinians,” the group added.
Previously known as NBK, Platform Stop Racism and Exclusion has been commemorating Kristallnacht since 1992, frequently with members of the local Jewish community.
In 2010, however, the Central Jewish Board of the Netherlands cut ties with NBK over the group's efforts to draw parallels between the Holocaust and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
A vocal supporter of the Hamas terror group, Zoabi is currently under investigation in Israel for issuing calls for a "mass intifada."
